Provincial health officials say public health is better enough to remove mask rules. That’s why politicians have decided to take a step forward about it.
B.C. reported 290 hospitalizations, a slight drop from Thursday when there were 298 people in hospital. There are 46 people in intensive care.
The government says more than 4.3 million people aged five and older in the province have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
According to Vancouver.sun, the government update said: “There have been no new healthcare facility outbreaks. The outbreak at Sidney Care Home (Island Health) has been declared over, for a total of seven facilities with ongoing outbreaks.”
The number of patients with COVID-19 at Ontario hospitals hit the lowest level seen in nearly three months, dropping below 600 this Monday, 21st.
That being the case, since March 3rd, masks are no longer required in public places in British Columbia Province, and the government expects to drop the proof of vaccination on April 8th, depending on the COVID statistics this month.
Masks are also no longer required indoors in Ontario when it comes to places like schools, restaurants, gyms, and stores. But public transit, health-care facilities, long-term care homes, and congregate care settings will keep mask mandates until the end of April. Since March 2nd Ontario has already dropped the proof of vaccination requirement, capacity limits, though, still remain.
We believe we are heading for a better scenario for citizens and of course, for travelers coming to Canada this year.
